4th lesson

sorry the previous post was sort of spoiled or sth...
for the 4th lesson we learned about how to style the HTML web page. We used Cascading Style Sheet (CSS). For CSS, there is a few codes to learn just like in HTML. We learnt about the external style sheet and the internal style sheet. To create a style sheet, instead of using .html, u will have to use .css. You can change the length width height design and layout just with CCS simply by linking the html notepad to the css notepad using DOCTYPE. Each HTML document must begin with a document type declaration that declares which version of HTML the document adheres to. The doctype declaration is not an HTML tag; it is an instruction to the web browser about what version of the markup language the page is written in. Thus, using the DOCTYPE will enable the css file to be linked to the html file.

3rd lesson

For our third lesson we learnt html. The backbone of a website. We learnt how to create a website using html. We have to start with , then , and . To close each of these, we add a slash. Thus, it is , and . Also learnt how to make a new line < br >, put words in headings (number indicates largest starting from 1). These can all be placed in a notepad and saved instead of .txt, we use .html, to indicate that it is a webpage. .htm can also be used. .htm was actually originally used and .html was not available for webpages yet. But currently, almost all webpages can be read by .html except some old webpages.

IS lesson 2

IS lesson 2
We did Forums during IS lesson 2. I learnt the social impact of web new media technologies, ethical issues on media usage and intellectual properties and blog/website differences. So, with new technologies, usage of new stuff are becoming more and more common. Blogs, websites and so on, can be created easily. However, in our blog, we have to learn ethical issues on media usage so as to not insult others. We have to use proper language and not be abusive and not to post conversational language. For our blog postings, we have to elaborate on postings with facts and supporting evidence and use good grammar. Critical thinking is also required during our blog postings.

1st lesson

My first lesson in Infocomm in Term 2 was basically going through stuff about the history of the Internet, and creating a blog and introduction to blogging. So a few of the blogging sites are Ning, Blogger and wordpress. I used blogger because I already had an account in it, so it is easier to create a blog. So far through this lesson I already have a basic understanding of the history of Internet. So the Internet was for scientist at different locations to share information. Also, no one controls the Internet, it is a public network. There is also dial-up access to the Internet and a wireless connection. For the Internet you have to type in the domain name to access the a site. Each domain name has a unique IP address so every IP address will access a different site. A URL is a Uniform Resource Locator, it is a unique address for a webpage. A link is a different thing. It is a built-in connection to another webpage location.
Other than all these information, we also learned about different things like hits, animations, web-publishing, etc. The lesson was very informative and enriching for me
